The Rotary Greenway Scenic River Road Trail (Lakefield Trail) 

An 8.5km path from Trent University to Lakefield that was opened on July 5, 2000, to the general public. This trail was made possible thanks to the support of the Rotary Club; a club both Catherine and Ben have been a part of. It is a multi-use trail; cycling, walking, or you can host an event here and it is open year-round

 

Riverview Park and Zoo

Peterborough is incredibly lucky to be home to Canada's ONLY free accredited zoo. The zoo is open from 8:30 to dusk, year round. The regular operating season runs yearly from Victoria Day to Labour Day. During this season, visitors can enjoy the splash pad, or the miniature train ride (weather permitting), visit the animal exhibits, or explore the extensive playgrounds and giant slide. Shopping in Peterborough

Over the last several years, the Peterborough shopping scene has been quickly expanding. Our largest mall, Landsdowne place, has over 100 stores and rivals the malls of larger cities. Peterborough also has many plazas and shopping centres, so you never have to travel far. Downtown Peterborough is bursting with local shops and businesses. We have everything, from handmade jewellery and clothing, to second-hand gaming and book stores.

The downtown area, known for its vibrant arts culture, is a welcoming and charming part of the City. There are a variety of theatres and art exhibits, which are constantly growing and changing. Our downtown core values local artists and makes an effort to showcase their work in versatile ways. Downtown Peterborough also has plenty of great shopping, and is full of local boutiques and vintage stores. Some of our best local restaurants and cafe's are also here, along with plenty of parks and trails.

Get Outside!

Are you the outdoorsy type? One incredible thing about the City of Peterborough is the balance of nature and city life. Peterborough is home to Jackson's Park, a stunning oasis located within the city. It has trails, playgrounds, disc golf, and so much more to explore. This park is accessible year round, and many of the trails are made even more beautiful when the winter snow arrives. Across the City, there is Herald Town Conservation Area,  which has walking and cycling trails, some of which are great for more experienced hikers. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as there are many beautiful green spaces to explore in Peterborough.
